From humble beginnings to a beacon of holistic education. This is our story.
"Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin."
CJ Schools Modern Montessori Education Centre was founded in 2006 to provide international-standard education to students of all backgrounds, at a time when the demand for personalized, child-centered learning in Accra was rapidly growing but quality options were scarce.
The School, born from the visionary passion of Rev. James Kwaku Dellah-Gu and Pastor Mrs. Cynthia A. Dellah-Gu, opened its doors in a modest setting: the top floor of a storey building. It began with a handful of pupils on roll—a small but determined cohort that would become the seed for thousands of future leaders.
Driven by the motto "Care Beyond Compare," the numbers increased rapidly as parents witnessed the transformative power of the Montessori method combined with genuine pastoral care. By the end of the first year, enrollment had surged, and waiting lists began to form as it became impossible to increase the number of classes in the limited accommodation available.
In the years that followed, CJ Schools expanded from that single upper floor to its present multi-campus status. Today, we occupy four strategic locations—Kotobabi (Main & Annex), Tantra Hills, and Adenta—where it has been possible to expand our curriculum to include the Cambridge International pathway alongside the GES standard. The foundation stone of our legacy was laid not just in concrete, but in faith, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
We are currently finalizing the official schedule for our 20th Anniversary Grand Durbar and Alumni Homecoming. Full program details, including dates for the float, thanksgiving service, and awards night, will be published here shortly.
